Haz Welcomes South and City College Birmingham Students

Students from South & City College Birmingham benefit from a learning experience in a first visit to Haz Environmental to discover scientific aspects of “Waste Management”.

Back in 2016 Haz were approached by South and City College Birmingham with a request to provide an opportunity for students to visit the Haz facility to learn the importance of science in the waste industry.

Director Gary Perks says “We met with College officials, who explained they were looking for a company to work with, who were prepared to invite students to their facility to provide an insight into the functioning of a waste management organisation. The key requirement would be to explain the significance of science in the operation of the business.

The decision to offer our support was an easy one and we soon had visits booked.”

The first group of students visited in February 2017. They were provided with a presentation outlining the services and capabilities of Haz Environmental. The students were able to interact with staff members and site Chemists who explained scientific requirements.

Haz Internal Account Manager Leanne Halford says “The students were a really nice group of people and they showed a lot of interest. We were also pleased with the feedback from the college that they loved the visit. The next group of students are due next month, so we look forward to welcoming them.”
